According to the report International Diabetes Federation (2021) in the world, there are 537 million adults living with Diabetes Mellitus. Self-management in DM patients will not be fulfilled if there is a lack of knowledge and family support for patients.

Methodology: This study was conducted using a purposive sampling technique with a Cross-Sectional approach and using a quantitative design. The sample in this study amounted to 88 Type 2 DM respondents. The data collected using questionnaires are Self-Management, Knowledge and Family Support. DKQ-24, HDFSS and DMSQ have been tested for validity and reliability with a table r value of >0.388. The research data was not distributed normally, so it was analyzed using the Spearman Rank Test Version 27.

Results: A significant relationship between knowledge p-value 0.011, (r)=0.271 and family support p-value 0.001, (r)=0.350 with self-management. So that it shows the knowledge and support of families with self-management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at the Sindangbarang Health Center in Bogor is included in the low category.

Conclusion: There is a correlation between family knowledge and support and self-management at the Sindangbarang Bogor Health Center.
Maahirah Irchamna Hartanti, Dayan Hisni, Retno Widowati Copyright (c) 2025 Maahirah Irchamna Hartanti, Dayan Hisni, Retno Widowati https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 http://jurnal.kesehatan.cendikiajenius-ind.id/index.php/JAHNS/article/view/184 Mon, 30 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0700 The Relationship between Smoking Behavior and Sleep Patterns in Young Adults (18–40 Years Old) http://jurnal.kesehatan.cendikiajenius-ind.id/index.php/JAHNS/article/view/197
Background: Sleep patterns reflect an individual’s ability to obtain the amount of sleep needed. One of the lifestyle factors that affects sleep patterns is smoking behavior. In modern society, young adults are particularly affected by smoking habits, with some smokers believing that smoking helps them relax and forget life’s problems, no matter how serious, and that smoking improves their mood. This study aimed to identify the relationship between smoking behavior and sleep patterns in young adults (18–40 years) in the Seberang Palinggam subdistrict.

Methods: This was a correlational analytic study with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected from September 2023 to July 2024. The population consisted of 1,478 young adults aged 18–40 years in Seberang Palinggam, and 100 participants were selected using probability sampling techniques. Data were collected using a questionnaire and processed through editing, coding, entry, cleaning, and tabulating. Analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test (95% CI).

Results: Statistical test results showed that most young adults engaged in heavy smoking behavior (52 respondents, 52.0%) and had poor sleep patterns (65 respondents, 65.0%). Based on bivariate analysis with the Chi-square test, the p-value was 0.027 (P < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between smoking behavior and sleep patterns in young adults (18–40 years) in the Seberang Palinggam subdistrict.

Conclusion: The study shows a significant relationship between smoking behavior and sleep patterns. Most young adult heavy smokers have poor sleep. Educational efforts and interventions are needed to reduce smoking habits and improve their sleep quality.
Sofiya Chairani, Idrawati Bahar, Yessi Fadriyanti Copyright (c) 2025 Sofiya Chairani https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 http://jurnal.kesehatan.cendikiajenius-ind.id/index.php/JAHNS/article/view/197 Mon, 30 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0700 The Effect of Religious Instrumental Music Therapy on Anxiety in Breast Cancer Patients http://jurnal.kesehatan.cendikiajenius-ind.id/index.php/JAHNS/article/view/198
Background: Anxiety is a vague and uneasy feeling caused by discomfort or fear accompanied by a response. Anxiety in breast cancer patients is a psychological disorder due to facing uncertainty, worries about the effects of cancer treatment, and fear of disease progression which may lead to death. At Tanjung Paku Health Center, Solok City, five cases of dementia in the elderly were recorded from January to December 2024 out of 315 total elderly individuals, highlighting the urgency of comprehensive nursing care. Objective: This study aims to describe nursing care for the elderly with dementia, from assessment to evaluation.

Method: Using a descriptive design with a single case study approach, the research was conducted from March 24-29, 2025, in RT 001/RW 006, Tanjung Paku Village, Solok City. The subject was one elderly person (Medical Record No. 003574) selected by purposive sampling based on inclusion criteria. Nursing care involved data collection and analysis, diagnosis formulation, intervention planning, action implementation, and evaluation of changes in the patient's condition.

Results: The patient exhibited primary symptoms of dementia such as frequent forgetfulness, difficulty recalling past events, verbal communication and comprehension difficulties, and blurred vision. Environmental observation revealed a high fall risk due to the absence of handrails in the bathroom. Nursing diagnoses established were impaired memory, impaired verbal communication, and risk for falls. Implemented interventions included memory exercises (puzzle play therapy), communication strategies for hearing deficits, and fall prevention.

Conclusion: Comprehensive nursing care is crucial in addressing cognitive impairment, communication issues, and physical safety problems in elderly individuals with dementia. Specific interventions like puzzle therapy and family education show positive potential in symptom management and improving patient quality of life.
Aini Yusra, Syahrum, Azizah Gusril, Abdul Gafar Copyright (c) 2025 Aini Yusra, Syahrum, Azizah Gusril, Abdul Gafar https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 http://jurnal.kesehatan.cendikiajenius-ind.id/index.php/JAHNS/article/view/209 Mon, 30 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0700
