Edukasi Ipswich Touch Test dengan Metode "Kasama Weki Kataho Supu" dalam Deteksi Dini Neuropati Sensori Diabetes Mellitus Tipe 2
Abstract
Sensory neuropathy is a common complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus that frequently remains undetected, increasing the risk of diabetic foot ulcers. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of health cadres in the early detection of sensory neuropathy using the Ipswich Touch Test (IpTT) through the Kasama Weki Kataho Supu approach. The program was conducted in Jatibaru Village, Asakota District, Bima City, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, from May to July 2026, involving 50 health cadres and 50 individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The intervention employed a one-group pre-test–post-test design and included health education, IpTT demonstrations, hands-on practice, booklet distribution, educational videos, and evaluation through pre- and post-tests, skill observation, and statistical analyses using the Wilcoxon and McNemar tests. The results showed significant improvements in cadres’ knowledge, with 94% achieving good knowledge, while 96% became competent in performing the IpTT (p<0.05). Furthermore, 60% of screened participants with diabetes were identified as having sensory neuropathy. In conclusion, the IpTT education and training program effectively strengthened health cadres’ capacity for early sensory neuropathy detection and is recommended for integration into the Prolanis program to reduce diabetes-related complications in the community.
