Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease with increasing prevalence and a high risk of complications due to poor blood glucose control. Protein intake patterns and blood pressure are considered potential factors influencing glycemic control, thus requiring further investigation. This study aimed to determine the relationship between protein intake patterns and blood pressure with blood glucose levels in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. This study employed an analytic observational design with a cross-sectional approach involving 80 respondents selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected through interviews using a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), blood pressure measurements using a sphygmomanometer, and blood glucose examinations. The study was conducted from May to August 2025. Data analysis was performed using the Pearson correlation test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that all respondents had low protein intake, most experienced hypertension (53.8%), and the majority had abnormal blood glucose levels (93.8%). The mean blood glucose level was relatively high. Statistical analysis indicated no significant relationship between protein intake and blood glucose levels (p=0.401), as well as between blood pressure and blood glucose levels (p=0.176).In conclusion, blood glucose control is not significantly influenced by protein intake patterns and blood pressure alone. A comprehensive approach, including dietary management, physical activity, and treatment adherence, is recommended to improve glycemic control.
