Abstract

Introduction: Fasdhu is a complementary therapy used alongside medical treatment and is believed to help reduce excessive substances in the body. This study aimed to analyze the differences in total cholesterol levels before and after fasdhu therapy using a Point of Care Testing (POCT) device. Methods: An analytic observational study with a pre-post approach was conducted from February to May 2025 at Nur Syifa Clinic, Cilegon City. A total of 60 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Total cholesterol levels were measured from capillary whole blood samples using a POCT device. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test with a significance level of 5%. Results: The mean total cholesterol level before fasdhu therapy was 243 mg/dL (median 245 mg/dL; range 152–353 mg/dL), while after therapy it decreased to 211 mg/dL (median 207 mg/dL; range 140–327 mg/dL). The Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference with a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05). Conclusion: There was a significant difference in total cholesterol levels before and after fasdhu therapy. Fasdhu therapy may have potential as a complementary treatment associated with reduced total cholesterol levels; however, further studies with more rigorous research designs are recommended to confirm its effectiveness.
